About

The Full Story

Taking heavy influence from his college choral experiences, in particular with the Arizona State University Gospel Choir under directions of Dr. Jason Thompson and his successor Prof. Nathan DeShon Myers, Jean-Luc hoped to start a choir that connected through the music but had relationships that extended far beyond rehearsals and performances. After college he realized there was a something missing from his life, something that even the music wasn't fulfilling. In talking with his friends he found that there was a consensus: choir provided a space that fostered relationships and connections that no other environment could. Though he loves all music, sacred and secular, Jean-Luc had played with many churches across all denominations and was fascinated by how different all the music was. The diversity of perspectives of sacred music was so vast. From Gregorian chant in the Catholic church to contemporary worship in Non-Denominational churches, Gospel music from the West to Znamenny chant in the East, the range of sacred music encompasses so many beautiful traditions.

Kingdom Voices started in 2025 intent to provide a welcoming music community in the North Valley. Christian and sacred music has moved into the popular music sphere, and it is evident that joy can be found in performing the music. No matter your background, Kingdom Voices welcomes all who are interested in learning about sacred music in a setting that focuses on educating, sharing, performing.
